Fragrant antibacterial nanocapsule nanofiber

This technology emerging from Kit Parker's lab at Harvard provides materials and articles of clothing incorporating multiple nanocapsules containing a polymeric shell surrounding fluid. These polymeric fibers are co-spun with the nanocapsules. The nanocapsules are made by mini-emulsion polymerization and encapsulate fluids such as essential oils. These generated materials can be de-odorizing, anti-fungal, and/or anti-bacterial. This technology opens up numerous applications including sports equipment and clothing.
