Harvard Grid's Lab-to-Launch Lounge (10/23/25)
October 23rd, 2025 ~ 04:00pm - 05:30pm
Cambridge Campus
The Lab-to-Launch Lounge (LLL) series brings former Harvard graduate students in CXO roles back to campus to hear how they launched their research out from Harvard labs:
- how did they get here
- what would they do differently--and what they would not do at all--if a student again
- anything else on your mind
Join the discussion, meet fun people, grab a bite, and leave with new ideas. Open to the Harvard community.
Speakers:
Dr. Ahmed Kerwan graduated from the University of Oxford and King's College London with prizes and distinctions before starting as an NHS Academic Medical Doctor and Clinical Supervisor at the University of Cambridge. During his tenure, Ahmed co-authored a series of peer-reviewed scientific papers on Covid, surgery, and health economics which were amongst the globally most cited publications of their respective years. After completing his Clinical Academic training, Ahmed joined the first NHS-backed Venture Capital fund as an Investor, where he identified, evaluated, and conducted rigorous due diligence on early-stage healthcare technology companies. Ahmed earned a MPH in Health Management and Policy and was a Frank Knox Memorial Fellow and Fulbright Scholar. He is the founder and CEO of Taxo AI, a Y Combinator-backed healthcare automation company that recently raised $5 million in seed funding from investors including General Catalyst and Character. Taxo leverages its proprietary AI "reasoning engine" called Apex™—trained on billions of medical entities—to automate the most time-consuming administrative tasks in healthcare, including prior authorizations, medical billing and coding, patient intake, and insurance verification. The platform integrates directly with electronic health records and achieves a 98% approval rate for prior authorizations by accurately assessing medical necessity and communicating directly with payers, dramatically reducing the administrative burden that typically consumes hours of physicians' time and allowing healthcare providers to focus on patient care rather than paperwork.
Collins Oghor, MD, MBA, MPH, holds an MPH in Healthcare Management from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and CEO of Collogh Cares Inc., a digital health startup aiming to prevent kidney failure "one family at a time." Inspired by the loss of a loved one to kidney disease in Nigeria, Collins has dedicated his career to expanding access to quality healthcare. He holds degrees in Psychology, Neuroscience, and Behaviour from McMaster University, and earned joint MD, MBA, and MSc degrees from McGill University. His work spans global health initiatives with UNOPS and public sector strategy at McKinsey's Africa Delivery Hub. In 2020, he co-founded Collogh Cares to address the $500 billion annual burden of chronic kidney disease in the U.S., which affects 15% of the adult population. The company's flagship NephroAI platform (now operating as Kauna) uses artificial intelligence to predict when patients will need dialysis years in advance—telling patients specifically "You're 18 months away from needing dialysis" rather than just "You have chronic kidney disease"—enabling proactive lifestyle management and clinical interventions. The platform provides digital health ecosystems and care management services that support kidney specialist clinics with chronic care management and remote monitoring, with long-term plans for global expansion to tackle kidney disease in underserved populations, particularly in Africa. As a former Cheng Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School's Social Innovation + Change Initiative, Collins is focused on scaling the company's impact while ensuring equitable care for marginalized patients worldwide.
