Your body fought off the virus — but damaged your lungs

Researchers in Prof. Ruth Franklin’s lab in the Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology discovered that macrophages — a type of immune cell — may be key to repairing damage to the lungs caused by inflammation that occurs when your body fights off an infection.
