Harvard Grid's Lab-to-Launch Lounge (11/21/24)
November 21st, 2024 ~ 04:00pm - 05:30pm
The Node (SEC Rm 2.203), 150 Western Ave, Boston, MA 02134, USA
The Lab-to-Launch Lounge (LLL) series brings former Harvard graduate students in CXO roles back to campus to hear how they launched their research out from Harvard labs:
- how did they get here
- what would they do differently--and what they would not do at all--if a student again
- anything else on your mind
Join the discussion, meet fun people, grab a bite, and leave with new ideas. Open to the Harvard community.
Speakers:
Adam Behrens is the Co-Founder and CEO of Mori, a company that enhances food resilience using a natural and edible protein derived from silk. Mori Silk™ can be integrated at any stage, from farm to shelf, optimizing the growth, processing, packaging, transportation, and enjoyment of various food products. In addition to his role at Mori, Adam serves as a Board Member at C2Sense, a medical diagnostics company. He has dedicated his career to developing and translating technologies in food, agriculture, healthcare, and nutrition. He has authored over 20 publications and holds numerous patents. Previously, he was a postdoctoral associate in the Langer Lab at MIT, where he managed projects aimed at improving healthcare and nutrition in developing countries. In 2017, he was recognized on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Adam holds a BS in Chemical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Maryland's Kofinas Lab.
Simon Chaput, while pursuing his Ph.D. at Harvard University between 2013 and 2017, invented a new technology to reduce the energy used in piezoelectric actuator systems by 10X. Recognizing the commercial potential of this innovation, he founded Boréas Technologies. Through the process of launching the company, Chaput complemented his engineering skills with business acumen, including startup financing, IP protection, technology licensing, and sales. Boréas Technologies Inc. is a fabless semiconductor company commercializing product-differentiating integrated circuits. The company’s vision is to “Drive the haptic revolution through low-power electronics,” enabling the next wave of user experiences in consumer electronic devices. CapDriveTM is Boréas’ exclusive patented, scalable high-voltage piezo driver architecture. It drives the creation of miniature piezo drivers using a fraction of the power and area of conventional drivers, thus allowing for the full benefits of piezo actuators to be realized in the system.
